SZ-1400

This series of beacons run on a preset schedule and are ideal for school zone speed limit signs installed on the roads surrounding a schoolyard, or at crosswalks that would benefit from scheduled flash periods at the busiest times of day or night. They can also be used for roadways and highways that require warning beacons to be flashing during specific days and times, which can also be adjusted remotely on demand.

With the convenience of cellular communication, or direct-USB connection, these beacons can provide diagnostic feedback as to flash status, battery health, and activation counting, as well as visualization on a map for convenient quick status checks and monitoring. These beacons create a simple setup when mounted with warning signs, and our variety of mounting options makes them easy to mount above existing or new signs.

School Zones Slow drivers down and keep them alert as they pass through school zones.
Playground Zones Remind drivers to slow down for playground zones.
Seasonal Road Conditions Alert drivers to weather alerts and other road status.

All SZ-1400 beacons come with a choice of two flash patterns: MUTCD and JSFT Strobe. The JSFT Strobe pattern is twice as effective at getting drivers’ attention, while using half the power draw of the standard MUTCD pattern.

ABOUT SCHOOL ZONE SZ SERIES BEACONS

These beacons can be installed anywhere with reliable GPRS cell phone reception and places without (via direct USB connection). A preset flash schedule can be created using the JSFT Beacon App and sent to the beacons wirelessly or in person. The scheduling website can accommodate multiple years of operation, including special events for extra use and days off. Spontaneous activations and commands can also be carried out with mobile devices. Diagnostic information such as battery levels and activation counting can be accessed through the Primary beacons via cellular or direct USB connection.

Each School Zone set is made up of two beacon types. The “Primary Beacon” contains a cellular modem and stores the annual flash schedule. The “Secondary Beacons” receive daily on/off signals from the primary beacon. Any number of secondary beacons within ½ mile line-of-sight can be associated to a primary beacon. When a primary beacon receives an instant activation command or encounters a scheduled activation period, the primary beacon relays the activation command to all secondary beacons in the series.
